Initial from a Choir Book
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 110 x 113 mm, one fragmentary four-line musical stave ruled in red ink and a fragmentary word, [or]namentum, on reverse.
ORNAMENTATION: Initial in orange, grey, pink, blue and green on gold grounds within orange and black ink frames: [E] formed of stylized acanthus, with infill of triplets of silver dots on light blue ground.
History note: No. 132 in a nineteenth-century French sale catalogue, in which the initials are described as sixteenth-century German (catalogue cutting pasted to mount)
