Description

Folios bound in soft-back covers, with silk covers and ties

Single-section pamphlet with unsupported sewing in a case of brocade over laminated paper boards. Album containing 4 watercolours on pith paper (folios 1-4) illustrating four major sites along The Pearl River (Zhujiang), the third longest river in China that flows through Guangdong into the South China Sea. By the end of the trading season, the Western merchant ships would leave Canton and travelled down the river to Macau. On their way, they would first pass by Whampoa and then Bocca tigris. Folios 5-12 are blank. Previously described as "Views of South China".
