This image depicts two Qing men in a domestic setting. The seated figure appears to be a scholar or official wearing his official garment, which is a navy blue robe with a navy blue robe and a patterned lower garment with colourful stripes, seated beside a black lacquered table. A gold-coloured chain or decorative element is visible on his chair. A servant in a plain blue robe stands nearby, appearing to serve or assist. On the black table, there is a framed painting or picture and what appears to be a dish of fruit or food items on a green stand. The painting is executed in the style typical of Chinese export art from around the late 18th or early 19th century, with careful attention to details in the clothing, furniture, and domestic objects. The style combines Chinese painting techniques with elements designed to appeal to Western tastes, particularly in the detailed rendering of the figures' garments and the interior setting accessories. Previously described as "Manchu official".
