Manchu Official
Sunqua (Attributed)
This image depicts two female figures. One figure is seated on an ornate wooden chair with geometric designs and armrests, wearing an elaborate orange robe decorated with blue flowers and white trim. She wears a colourful headdress adorned with pearl strings. The standing figure is a young girl wearing a simpler green robe with similar blue floral patterns and holds a red lacquered box. The painting is executed in the style typical of Chinese export art from around the late 18th or early 19th century, with careful attention to details in the clothing, furniture, and accessories. The style combines Chinese painting techniques with elements designed to appeal to Western tastes, particularly in the detailed rendering of the textile patterns, furniture construction, and facial features. Previously described as "Manchu official".
