The carving is composed of many smaller pieces of ivory, pegged (and glued - repairs?) together: including the head, upper torso, lower torso, all limbs, both wrists-hands, both foreparts of the feet, the tray and all the objects attached to it; the circular base and the bag sat on it. These derive from several animal species: predominantly walrus (e.g. upper torso, lower torso, both arms, both legs: wide bands of secondary dentine visible in each), with some elephant (e.g. head: Schreger lines clearly visible from top). Every element was not examined; the smaller pieced sections are yet to be identified. Jo Dillon, 2024-08-06 Ivory
