Sion im Morgengrauen
Printmaker: Frankl, Gerhart
Given by The Gerhart Frankl Memorial Trust through Julian Sofaer.
Method of acquisition: Given (1998) by The Gerhart Frankl Memorial Trust
Production date: AD 1928 : The inscription appears as though it may have been altered to read '1928/29'. Two impressions in the Albertina, Vienna, are signed and dated 1929, whilst an impression in Salzburg Museum is dated (but not with the signature) 1928. The 1994 oeuvre catalogue says that the plate was etched in 1928 and the subscription for the etching invited in 1929. It is possible that it was etched in 1929 but some of the impressions printed in 1929.

Inscription present: The numerals '29' (the reading is not certain) appear immediately below and may have been intended as an insertion correcting the date to '1928/29'. If so it was done at a different time and probably by a different hand.
