Description

Black velvet, embroidered with chenille and ribbon, flowers of cloth and velvet (sewn in place through bead in centre). Gathered at the top by draw strings of black silk cord passing through gilt rings, tassels with jet drops.

Notes

History note: It was given to Mrs. Dew-Smith by Mrs. Adams, the widow of the astronomer, and had belonged to her grandmother.
