Description

Cambric, with front of lawn, one original cartwheel button remains. Worked in back, buttonhole, gathering, satin, smocking and cross stitch. The front is smocked, three bands of basket alternating with two bands of
chevron stitch. A sprig of shamrock within a border just below front opening. Marked in red cross stitch with a crown, Irish harp, GR capitals, 1822. Royal monogram. George IV visited Ireland in 1821, perhaps a gift of linen to the king and made up in 1822.
