Description

Tin-glazed earthenware dish painted in blue with a house

Buff earthenware, press-moulded, tin-glazed greyish-white, and painted in blue. The circular dish has a sloping rim, deep curved sides, and stands on a footrim. (Archer's Shape )The central area of the rim and well are painted with a European landscape featuring a house with a smoking chimney standing beside a lake or river, with a small tree to the left, a palisade, a signpost and a larger tree on the right, and in the distance to left, a small house. There are three peg marks on the reverse of the rim
