Open faced lever watch, striking and alarm, in pierced silver case.
MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'B. Pichart A Paris No. 906.' Balance cock, pierced and engraved table and foot. Table long with radius end, plain brass centre with split friction polished steel regulator. Ruby end stone mounted in small blued steel end piece, secured by blued steel screws. Brass balance, over-sprung. Brass balance spring cock. Brass engraved set-up click, ringed blue steel ratchet wheel. Brass pinion on alarm spring arbour with ringed blue steel stop wheel (one tooth space not cut). Silver locking plate engraved with radial Arabic hours, 1 to 12. Plain top plate engraved as above at edge, with brass set jewels for escapement, two steel screws each, for lever and escape wheel. Tulip-shaped fusee iron post. Brass case bolt on brass edge, nib through dial. Escapement under brass bridge under top plate, not gilt, lever and escape wheel jewelled. Striking barrel pierced and engraved, hammer under great wheel, blued gates, inertia weight on 5th arbour and depthing pinion. Plain alarm barrel, steel train and verge wheel, potance shaped and engraved. Pillar plate with five baluster shaped pillars, ring around plate outside pillars. Under dial, bridge for some alarm and striking trains, three foot bridge time second wheel. Split fusee and chain, barrel with one lip, set-up click on top plate. English lever escapement. Train planted radially. Striking runners with five wheels plus depthing pinion, planted anti-clockwise. Alarm train, all steel, four wheels, verge escapement, train planted anti-clockwise.
BRASS EDGE: Round with four protuding tabs, engraved around applied silver chapter ring, alarm dial recess in centre, dial side with engraved rope at edge, centre recessed for hour wheel, three pillars.
DIAL: Chapter ring, silver with six pins to attach to the brass edge. Outer ring, radial Roman chapters with simple flower and leaf half hours, ladder quarter hour ring with small dots at hours. Alarm disc, silver, outer ring, radial Arabic hours. Steel hour pointer in place of 12, silver knob in 6, hour ring with small dots at hours, centre engraved with stems, leaves and flowers.
ALARM HAND: Blued steel, long tail, baluster shaped pointers.
CASE: Silver, edge pierced and engraved with dogs chasing a stag, and dogs chasing a boar. There is also a face with drapery engraved at pendant, and a skull with drapery, with 'GM' under 6 o'clock. Back with two winding holes covered by discs, centre engraved with flower. Plain split bezel. Plain spherical pendant, stamped with unidentified marks on both sides, with plain ring bow.
