Inscription on sheet that the cupid is holding "Twelve English Ballads- The Music - the undoubted Composition of HAYDN The Words selected and adapted to his Works by D. Arnold" and on bottom "The beautifull simplicity of the following melodies are so truly Vocal, that the Editor could not resist the impulse of adapting them to English Words trusting as they have been so universally admired in the Authors Sonatas & They would not be less acceptable, when joined to elegant Poetry." and "Entered at Stationers Hall" and "Price 7s/6d" and "London Printed & Sold by Longman & Broderip No 26 Cheapside & No 13 Hay Market" and under the clouds "Cipriani delt" and "Strongitharm Sculpt".
