Description

Embossed gilded lace-paper front, with areas overpainted in purple. An applied silk ribbon at lower centre and with varnished chromolithographic print of a dog mounted on a silk panel at the centre with a garland of cut-paper, hand-coloured and embossed flowers. A printed motto on a paper scroll at upper centre: 'Ever faithful'. Card opens to handwritten verse: 'Roses are red / and violets blue / Carnation sweet / And so are you / / And so are they / that sent you this / And when we meet / We will have a kiss. / Ever yours & c'.
