Description

A quarto valentine of white lace-paper with central panel mounted with a lace-paper 'cobweb' device, which opens when the thread is pulled upwards to reveal a cut-paper, hand-coloured bird with cut-paper branch and nest. Two collages of cut-paper and hand-coloured flowers and hand-painted leaves and stems are arranged to either side (with some losses). At lower centre is a cut-paper and hand-coloured flower garland and partial gold tinsel arrow (a second arrow shaft lost). At upper centre, a hand-written motto in blue ink: 'With sincerity I love but thee'. The interior is blank.
