Valentine card
A valentine front of silvered, embossed lace-paper with cameo scenes of putti with birds of paradise at upper centre. Other cameos of winged putti and birds of paradise at lower centre are partially covered (indication of an amateur interference at some point in the life of this valentine) by a large, mock envelope of silvered lace-paper which opens to reveal a varnished chromolithograph of flowers within an oval, white lace-paper frame with added dark blue paper leaves. A paper scroll printed motto is affixed below the mock envelope: 'May thy way thro life's journey / with roses be spread / And the sunshine of beauty / play over thy head'.
