Valentine card
Heavily-embossed valentine of two layers of paper of the same coral and shell grotto design, held together with paper springs. Two Cupids sitting on lace-paper clouds within the paper design are firing arrows at upper left and right. Three apertures in the paper at the centre are filled with cut-paper embossed and hand-coloured fairies, the central 'fairy' mother Venus sitting in a scallop shell and holding a baby Cupid who pulls back a bow. Fabric, glittered leaves are pasted behind the figures and at lower left and right (one missing at the right). A lithographed cut-paper swag printed in gold and blue ink with motto: 'Intended as a token of / sincere affection'. A blindstamp: 'WINDSOR' at lower right.
