Valentine card
Quarto valentine with back paper missing. A lace-paper border and central lace-paper border in the shape of a heart. A vellum panel at the centre onto which a collage of cut-paper, hand-coloured and fabric flowers and silver butterfly is mounted with some hand-painted details. Additional collaged elements are mounted onto silk panels above and below. A cut-paper heart is opened out at lower centre to display a verse printed in gold ink: 'Sweet Oh! Sweet is that / sensation / when two hearts in / union meet …'. A blindstamp on the sheet at lower right: 'BURKE' and also on the heart centre at lower right. See also P.14411-R-84, another T.H. Burke manufactured 'heart' collage.
