Verge alarm watch, in gilt oval case.

MOVEMENT: Oval full plate movement engraved'Jean Vallier A Lyon'. Balance cock, pierced and engraved table with ears, foot pierced and engraved. Steel balance, with broken off verge. Slide plate pierced and engraved, silvar regulation dial, numbered 1 to 6. Oval top plate with engraved as above around the edge. Blued steel pierced set-up click, with missing ratchet. Line and corners engraved around rectangular escapement hole. Alarm winding square cut off and stop, wheel and pinion, missing. Fusee iron post rectangular with semi-circular profile. Brass case bolt and spring on dial plate, with steel nib on dial plate. Rectangular potance riveted to top plate, counter-potance screwed to underside of top plate. Alarm barrel pierced and engraved, screwed to top plate. Rectangular alarm potance engraved and riveted to top plate. Counter-potance screwed to underside of plate. Alarm contrate wheel missing. Pillar plate with four turned baluster pillars. Second wheel bar. Three rectangular holes for dial plate, two with latches, one with blued steel to secure crack in plate. Alarm release lever brass spring under dial, lever missing. Drive pinion missing from fusee. Split gut fusee, two lips on barrel with set up click on top plate. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise. Alarm, train missing, steel verge wheel with brass centre, verge and double headed hammer. Train planted anti-clockwise.

DIAL PLATE: Gilt brass with four tabs for case, engraved with flowers, animals and foliage, border engraved on movement side. Niello work. Applied silver chapter ring with outer ladder minute circle, radial Roman chapters. Gilt brass alarm centre, radial Arabic chapters and blued steel hand at 12, centre engraved, square central hole.

HAND: Blued steel with pierced head and long tail.

BELL: MISSING

CASE: Oval gilt brass, straight pierced and engraved side with ribs front and back. Back, lid, and pendant gilt, engraved, and filled with wax. Turned gilt brass drop. Central glass, split at hinge, inside engraved with garland, cut into by glass aperture.
