Description

Verge watch in silver pair case.

MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'Wm. HILLIER LONDON'. Balance cock with symmetrically pierced and engraved table with mask at neck and ears, foot pierced and engraved with thin edge. Steel balance. Pierced and engraved slide plate with irregular edge, large silver regulation dial with radial Arabic figures 1 to 6. Pierced fusee iron post. Angular case bolt with flat decorated end, nib through dial. Potance, with short foot having a moulded top surface, riveted to plate. Counter-potance riveted to plate. Pillar plate with four Egyptian pillars with pierced decorated pediments, the pediments being 1/2 height of the pillar. Fusee and chain, tangent set-up under barrel, barrel with one lip. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise.

DIAL: Silver champleve, four feet. Radial Arabic 5 minute figures in polished cushions. Ladder minute ring, radial Roman chapters with lozenges between, recessed centre. Centre disc with scrolls above and below centre, top scroll contains 'HILLIER' and bottom 'LONDON'.

BRASS EDGE: Two feet, thin dial edge engraved with circle and radial lines. Recess for pillar plate.

HANDS: Blued steel, hour hand pierced and poker minute hand with end missing (replacement).

INNER CASE: Silver, plain, not marked, with split bezel. Short cylindrical pendant with cheese top with lin round, stirrup bow.

OUTER CASE (A): Silver, plain, not marked.

WATCHPAPER (B): Hand made, drawn and painted verse of flowers.
