Meiping vase
Meiping vase. Buff stoneware thrown in sections and luted. The foot is solid-marbled and the body is covered with a marbled brown and cream slip, or overlay, and probably burnished. The vase has a slender, ovoid body, flattened shoulders and cup-shaped mouth; slightly flowing footrim with recessed, flat base.
History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
