Jar with wooden cover. Hard-paste porcelain painted in the `five colour' palette (green, iron-red, yellow, aubergine, and black), with underglaze-blue (Wucai decoration). The shouldered baluster body tapers towards the flat, unglazed base with rounded edge. The sides are decorated with four boys climbing in scrolling peonies and foliage, beneath a band of iron-red, green and underglaze-blue petals around the neck, and an underglaze-blue crackle border around the shoulders.
