Baluster vase
Baluster vase. Grey stoneware, press moulded, covered in white slip, painted in iron-brown and incised under clear, but degraded glaze. A baluster vase of square form, with flared, square neck with no rim. From the angular shoulders the body tapers in and flares out slightly at the base. The vase stands on four right-angle-shaped, raised feet. The white slip is unevenly applied, and is decorated all over with peonies and branches in iron-brown. Two mask terminals adorn either side of the neck.
