Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
Lace-paper frame with silver hand colouring, mounted on paper springs. Turquoise padded silk inserted underneath the lace-paper at upper left and right (to appear as bows) and lithographic flower scraps affixed to each. Padded silk central panel onto which is stuck a lithographed cut-out of a green woodpecker within a cut-out garland of flowers. The woodpecker carries a lozenge labelled 'Contentment' in its beak and has a large, purple feather attached to its tail, in reference to a bird of paradise. Underneath the tail is a lithographed cut-out of Cupid with a bow and arrow. The lower part of the padded silk is threaded with black, glitter cord and pearls.
