Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
Lace-paper and partial lace-paper frame mounted on paper springs. A lithgraphic cut-out on embossed paper of flowers and a locked book (bible?) at the centre (this has become detached), which is framed with frosted green and white fabric leaves. Another lithographic flower scrap is attached below. Inside the card is a hand-written inscription written in black ink: 'My powers of expression are indeed few / to express, dearest friend my thanks to you; / your Valentine I'll fondly keep: / Till this short life is hushed in sleep. / I'll cherish those words, so dear to me, / And in pondering o'er them think of thee; / That you may always happy be: / Is the sincerest wish of E D (in monogram)'. A monogram at upper centre: C [A K?].
