Description

A hand-coloured woodcut on thin, white laid paper with an embossed border. A comic valentine subject featuring a young woman standing on a seaside promenade or pier whose hooped skirts are being blown up by the wind from behind, revealing her frilly petticoats. A printed (ironic?) verse below: "Such a charming girl I never, / Met before in all my life, / You would make me blest for ever, / Could I call you my dear wife." Back paper missing. A cartoon cut from a newspaper on the verso entitled: "Like his Imperence". One of a series. See also P.14345-R-11 and P.14345-R-13.
