Valentine card

A lithographed design on 4to-sized wove paper with a large, hand-coloured vignette at upper centre featuring a sailor holding a Union Flag in his right hand, a garlanded canon to his left greets a hovering Cupid who offers up a portrait miniature. Below, an illuminated letter begins a printed verse: "My fond one, my true one - ere yet from the shore / The sails shall be filled and the tars ply the oar - ...". The inside pages are blank. One of a series. P.14346-R-24 and P.14347-R-L9 are other numbers from the same series.
