Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A central rectangular panel of white card, die-cut in a hexagonal mesh pattern with an embossed border and scalloped edges. The mesh has been partly cut away and a white-bordered chromolithographed card inserted of pink roses and forget-me-nots and scroll with verse: "Dearest beneath the / roses, / no secret have I to tell; ...". The central panel is mounted with paper springs to two pieces of white card of the same design - die-cut with a hexagonal mesh pattern and embossed border - arranged vertically. Two embossed scraps are affixed to the joins at upper centre (girl in blue dress holding a pink rose) and lower centre (fern fronds). This joining together of two cards (probably originally a folding valentine) is seen elsewhere. See also P.14349-R-20, P.14349-R-23, P.14349-R-30 and P.14413-R-94.
