Valentine card

Design for a puzzle purse. Woodcut with letterpress on a large folio size sheet of cream laid paper. The design is uncoloured and unused. A large printed square with verses and woodcut images, including a pair of flaming hearts, a pair of swans and a church, arranged around the edges and in a square formation at the centre. Watermark: [crown] / F / 1803. This card was included in the exhibition of valentine cards, _For ever thine: the nineteenth century valentine_, held in the Charrington Print Room at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1995, no.1.
