Valentine card

A circular chromolithograph printed on one side of die-cut card and featuring a Cupid/putti figure hovering inside a circular life preserver, set against forget-me-not confetti with a red heart at upper right. Message and verse printed at upper and lower centre: "To my Valentine / I know a girl who's fond and true, / And think that I deserve her; / She loves me too, of course it's you, / My little Life Preserver." On the verso: Ernest Nister, London Printed in Bavaria. / No 740 E.P. Dutton & Co New York. This card was included in the exhibition of valentine cards, _For ever thine: the nineteenth century valentine_, held in the Charrington Print Room at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1995, no. 79.
