Etching and engraving with hand-colouring on a single sheet of 4to-size white wove paper. Central image within an oval etched frame of a couple wearing regency dress, the lady in a white dress sitting on a garden bench and playing a lute. The gentleman wearing a top hat, watching her from behind a tree. Etched verse (numbered stanzes) around the central image: "The other day when in the shade, / A soft and plaintive air you play'd / Behind the tree I cautious stole, / While sympathy enchain'd my soul ...". From a series. See also P.14410-R-4, P.14410-R-36, P.14410-R-40 and P.14410-R-42. Graphite inscription at upper left: "(1822)".
