Description

White-lace-paper of a design with birds and butterflies entwined in branches with yellow slip paper behind. A 'frame' of gilded embossed paper and hand-coloured pink roses and forget-me-nots surround a rice-paper blind at the centre which is mounted with an embossed and gilded cut-out of Cupid and a dove. Two gilt-edged scrolls with mottoes printed in blue ink are affixed at lower left and right: "Have confidence and / win me"; "This is not friendship / but love." The yellow slip paper has an oval-shaped window cut into it presumably to ensure that the rice-paper blind has a white background for contrast.
