Valentine card

Large 4to-size sheet of lace-paper mounted onto white tissue paper and decorated with cuttings of lace-paper, chromolithographed scraps and cut-paper and hand-coloured flowers and foliage. A printed scroll in red ink at lower centre: "Though your tongue denies, / I believe your eyes." Gold foil hearts to left and right of the scroll. A central panel of embossed paper contains a lithographed and hand-coloured garland of roses, which lifts up to reveal a hand-painted silk panel of gouache flowers with a motto affixed: "Yours for ever". The silk panel is bordered by a frame of white lace-paper mounted on paper springs. The front paper is adhered to the back paper.
