Valentine card

Small 64mo-size playing-card-style comic valentine with a simple, embossed border. A die-cut, glazed chromolithograph affixed at the centre; a male figure with the oversized head of an eagle carrying a large sack over his shoulder. A long, printed letterpress verse below: "A usual term of reproach is the Jew; / But whether it is scarcely just or true. ...". From a series and one of nine examples mounted onto the same album leaf. Two further loose duplicate cards from the series have been catalogued individually.
