Valentine card

Comic valentine. Hand-coloured comic wood engraving on very thin wove paper of a young dairymaid with an enlarged head stirring the contents of a large butter churn. A letterpress verse printed below: 'Just stick to your dairy; though jolly you be, / You are not at all, the sweetheart for me, / I may tell you the truth on St. Valentine's day, / That from you I ne'er can be too far away.'. The inside pages are blank. A graphite inscription on the album leaf: 1/= [1 shilling] may relate to an inscription found on the verso of P.14412-R-107.
