Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A 'raised' valentine composed of two layers; a frame of white lace-paper mounted with a collage of white silk leaves and scraps of peacock butterflies and forget-me-nots with silver metallic embossed cut-paper foliage and white silk bows at upper and lower centre. The frame surrounds an oval-shaped central panel of a chromolithograph of flowers, the largest of which can be lifted up to reveal a lithographed message: 'Affections / Offering'. The frame is attached with paper springs to a second layer of plain embossed paper. The inside pages are blank. A maker's stamp visible but illegible on the verso of the second layer at upper left. The same stamp is also seen on P.14413-R-10.
