Valentine card

A 'raised' valentine with die-cut and chromolithographed top layer in a design of a passion flower vine with a pair of birds, printed in a limited palette of green, yellow, blue, orange and pink inks. This layer is mounted on paper springs to a second layer of white paper with scalloped edge printed blue and gold inner border. A gilt-framed circular panel of silk printed with a verse: 'MY LOVE / IS AS / BOUNDLESS AS THE SEA / THE MORE I HAVE / THE MORE / WOULD I GIVE TO / THEE'. On the inside right-hand page, a heart-shaped flower garland scrap encloses hand-written initials in black ink: 'J.R.S'.
