Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
White coated and embossed card with an oval window surrounded with an additional lace-paper frame and backed with hand-painted violets on a panel of white silk. A silver-framed motto affixed at lower centre: 'SOUVENIR'. A folding valentine which opens to reveal three additional mounted panels of white card with lace-paper edges and roughly-cut windows bordered with chromolithographed violet garlands. The upper panel is backed with a chromolithographed scene of a 17th-century couple in a rural landscape, the lower panel with a chromolithographed scene of a rural town with church and the central panel is backed with white silk printed in blue ink with the verse: 'Receive this simple expression / Of my true constant affection'.
