Valentine card
Publisher: Mullord Bros.
A valentine designed for a female child. Cream wove paper with a narrow embossed and lace-paper border with scalloped edges. A tinted lithograph in green ink of an outdoor scene of trees and grass. A 'dressed' or 'paper-doll' valentine featuring a felt cut-out figure of a little girl dressed in a felt cut-out blue dress with red satin ribbon sash surmounted with an embossed chromolithograph of the head and shoulders of a young girl with long fair hair wearing a circlet of flowers on her head. A gilt-edged motto printed in purple ink at lower centre: 'FOR A / Good Little Girl'. 'MULLORD' is stamped at lower left. The front paper is pasted to the back paper. The same head is used on a similar example in the collection of the Museum of London (38.155/1) which is on J.T. Wood stamped paper which contains an inscription from a father to his daughter dated 1867.
