Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
White embossed front paper of all-over dog-rose design with incorporated lace-paper leaves and a central oval window. Three silver pins have been inserted into the paper in various places to attach it to the back paper. At the centre is a 'frame' of gilt and green embossed paper trees around a beige gauze blind over a hand-painted scene of trees with superimposed hand-coloured embossed male and female figures wearing medieval dress and carrying flower garlands. On the verso is a hand-written 'letter' from the sender in black ink: 'Please dear to hear this / in remembrance of / one who will never will [sic] deceive you / and wishes never / to be deceived ...'.
