Description

Loose inside album P.14413-R, inside the back fly leaf. Small 48mo-size valentine of cream wove paper with shaped and scalloped edges and an embossed border, which has also been incised to enable removal (some has been lost at lower centre). An embossed scrap of pink roses with leaves at the centre which lifts up to reveal a gilt embossed circular medallion, cut with serrated edges as a sun, containing a printed verse: 'My dearest / Friend, / may Heaven bless / thy future path / with / happiness.'. The interior is blank. Remains of light brown paper on the verso suggests that this card was probably removed from a different album leaf prior to Glaisher's aquisition of it.
