Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
12mo-size white wove paper with waved 'solomonic' embossed border with hand-painted flower garlands entwined around in green and red paint. The embossed border is encased within two lithographed 'waved' borders in gold ink. At the centre is an oval window with scalloped edge, backed with a panel of white silk which is hand-painted with leaves and stems and an applied cut-paper, hand-coloured flower. A 'scallop shell' edging is lithographed in gold ink. A verse is hand-written in blue ink at upper and lower centre: 'May thy heart to me incline / My ever dearest Valentine'. '41 6/- [6 shillings]' is written in black ink at lower right. The interior is blank. A similar card, P.14414-R-59, is mounted beside P.14414-R-60 and shares the same waved embossed border and similar lithographed elements and is evidently by the same (unknown) maker.
