Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
White lace-paper with hand-drawn outlines of the paper design in red, blue and green inks. A central window has a blind of white silk with a hand-painted design of stems and leaves and applied cut-paper and hand-coloured flowers and fabric leaves. Each flower lifts up to reveal a hidden word which forms a message when read together. The uppermost flower is lost. The message reads from top to bottom: 'Let thy sweet lips now answer yes'. The interior is blank. The verso is folded in three places.
