Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A hand-coloured lithograph (as etching) with a lithographed decorative border printed in gold ink on 8vo-size white laid paper. The border design features an oval window within a rectangle decorated with classical motifs of acanthus scrolls, acanthus leaves and rosettes. A lithograph in black ink with hand colouring at the centre of the oval window shows a couple standing arm in arm below a fringed canopy flanked by two putti standing in niches. The putti on the right showers them with flower confetti. A verse is printed onto the canopy above in black ink: 'Go where we will, this hand in thine / Those eyes before me smiling thus, / Through good & ill, through storm & shine / The worlds a world of love for us - / nor care I to what lands I roam, / with thee, the desert-wild's a home.'. The interior is blank. Another design from the same series is mounted onto the adjacent leaf of album P.14416-R. See P.14416-R-79.
