Valentine card
Publisher: Park, A.
A hand-coloured wood cut on a single sheet of white wove paper. A gentleman wearing a top hat and blue jacket and leaning against a stone balustrade holds a letter in his right hand. An urn surmounted with a heart and decorated with Cupid's quiver and bow sits on the top of the balustrade on the left. A woman in a pink dress and bonnet stands in the background on the right. Printed in letterpress below the image: 'by A. PARK, 47, Leonard Street, London.' A letterpress verse is printed below: 'Dearest youth - affection blending, / With the earnest truth I'm sending / Fain - I would convey to thee, / How thy heart is dear to me; / How may I confess the feeling, / All my inmost soul revealing; / Valentine - would thou wert mine, / Faithful dearest Valentine.'.
