Remembrance Valentine card
Publisher: Meek, George
A cameo-embossed lace-paper envelope with four flaps and scenes of chinese pagodas, bridges, boats, trees and temples containing a cameo-embossed valentine of white lace-paper with a pale pink slip paper in landscape orientation; a scene with classical fluted columns, a boat beneath a bridge, urn inside a temple and female figure carrying a scroll. An oval window at the centre backed with white silk with letterpress title and verse printed in black ink: 'REMEMBRANCE / ' "Forget me not," an echo lives / In friendship's feeling heart, / Respecting sweetest symphonies, / Where absence makes it smart. / Oh! simple words with love imbued, / How hearts respond to thee! / In cadence soft thro' struggling fears, / My friend - "Remember me!" '. 'MEEK' stamped below the urn at lower left. P.14417-R-3 is a similar card with a cameo-embossed scene, pink slip paper and oval window.
