Description

A small rectangle of red transparent cellulose with a decorative border and title and verse lithographed in gold ink: 'THE STOLEN KISS / What to lovers half so sweet, / What can yield such perfect bliss / At the hour when lovers meet, / As the tender stolen kiss. / ...'. Printed below: 'J.T. WOOD'. P.14417-R-10 was probably originally contained inside or intended for a sleeve and envelope like the examples mounted nearby. See for example, P.14417-R-7 and P.14417-R-8. One of a group of lithographed cellulose valentines mounted or found loose in album P.14417-R, some of which are contained in lace-paper sleeves and/or envelopes.
