Friendship Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
Silver lace-paper in scrolling design mounted onto white wove paper, a central oval frame of white lace paper around a roundel containing a square of purple silk printed with a title and verse: 'FRIENDSHIP / Ah! Why should words / in anger spoken, / Crush friendship formed by / years? / Must hopes of future sun be / broken, / Because one cloud appears? / Go seek for friends; you'll soon find some / Who charm by being new: / But years must pass, and sorrows come, / Ere you can prove / them true.'. A cut-paper chromolithograph oval of a winged Cupid with bow and arrow is affixed at upper centre. A scrap of roses and motto: 'Offering of Love' is affixed at lower centre.
