Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A valentine centrepiece. An uncoloured lithograph in black ink of a gentleman on bended knee handing a sealed letter to a dove on white wove paper (cut from a larger sheet) edged with a circular frame of gold leaf. Above, printed on the same sheet of paper and trimmed, is a small medallion edged with gold leaf and containing a heart with wings pierced with an arrow. Below, printed on the same sheet of paper and trimmed, is a swag printed in gold lithography which bears the verse: 'Haste my pretty gentle dove / bear this to one I truly love'. P.14417-R-88 is another roundel centrepiece and swag with different image and verse and P.14417-R-87 features another roundel, medallion and swag in the same style but with the elements separated and mounted onto a lace-paper front. All are mounted onto the same leaf in album P.14417-R.
