Description

Loose inside album P.14417-R between nos. 7 and 12. A small rectangle of red transparent cellulose, printed in gold lithographic ink with a decorative border around a titled verse: 'FORGET ME NOT / There is a flower which oft unheeded blows / Amidst the splendour of the summer's ray, / And though this simple flower no sweets disclose / Yet would it tell thee all I wish to say! ...'. Printed below the verse at lower centre: 'J.T. Wood, London.'. Found with three other loose, printed cellulose valentines by J.T. Wood: P.14417-R-L3, P.14417-R-L5 and P.14417-R-L6. The cellulose rectangle was probably originally contained inside or intended for a sleeve and envelope like the examples mounted onto the album leaf; See P.14417-R-7, P.14417-R-8 and P.14417-R-11.
