Valentine card

Loose inside album P.14417-R between nos. 63 and 64. Cameo-embossed gilt lace-paper with a scene of a female figure in a garden arbour, overarching trees to left and right and a balcony with plinths and urns at lower centre. An oval window at centre right has a rice-paper blind which is decorated with an embossed silver paper medallion with a smaller embossed gilt paper medallion above with a collage of cut-paper maroon leaves to either side. At lower centre is a cut-paper scroll with lithographed detail in gold ink and motto in blue ink: 'Believe me true'. The gilt lace-paper is mounted on paper springs to a back of white wove paper which has a wax-coated verso.
