Valentine card

Two layers of cameo-embossed lace-paper of the same design of roses, scrolls and putti. The top layer is silvered and the two layers are adhered together and attached along the left-hand edge at lower left. A window in the top layer has a net blind over a hand-coloured lithograph of an italianate town at the edge of a lake. A hand-coloured, embossed paper couple wearing 18th-century dress are positioned in front of the scene along the lower edge. The window is framed with a collage of silver and gold metallic paper fern fronds punctuated by hand-coloured, embossed paper flowers. A small, circular window at upper centre has a net blind over a hand-painted design of flowers and is decorated with more silver and gold metallic fern fronds and a gilt-framed, heart-shaped motto lithographed in blue ink on white paper: 'Fidelity / and / Love.'. 'MANSELL' is stamped onto the upper layer at lower right.
